Fantastic News! The Poppy Lady received a 2013 Eureka Silver Honor Award from the California Reading Association.
My Dad and I were happy to see the story of his "Poppy Lady" in the November issue of Highlights for Children. A special thank you to Carolyn Yoder, Judy Burke, and all the staff at Highlights!
While I was in Georgia, Abit Massey, President Emeritus of the Georgia Poultry Association, asked me to sign a copy of The Poppy Lady for President and Mrs. Carter. A lovely thank you arrived in response.
I had an absolute great time presenting at schools in Athens, Georgia.
I had a fun time with Moina's great-nieces, Lucia and Elinor, at a tea hosted by members of the Daughters of the American Revolution and United Daughters of the Confederacy on my recent trip to Georgia. I loved meeting Athens-Clarke County Mayor Nancy Denson and was honored to sign a copy of The Poppy Lady for her.
