Sansa Kirby: Girl Scout Troop 40951
Sansa Kirby of Troop 40951 delivered boxes of donated Girl Scout cookies to the NJ Veterans Memorial Home at Menlo Park, New Jersey. Sansa also gave the veteran heroes a copy of Moina's story for their library.
The Rotary Club of Gainesville, Georgia
The Rotary Club of Gainesville, Georgia presents a copy of The Poppy Lady to veterans. The veterans sign the book, add information or comments, and then the book is presented to area elementary schools in their honor.
The Poppy Lady presentation to the Bay County Library in Panama City, Florida
The Poppy Lady was presented in memory of Col. (ret.) and Mrs. John Marvin Williams (Marie Gadsden) to the Bay County Library in Panama City, FL. Children's Librarian Sandra Pierce accepted the book and is shown here with the couple's daughter and son, Marilyn and Kip. Col. Williams, a graduate of West Point, served in WWII and Korea and was stationed around the world during his long military career. Also in honor of military families and their service, the book was a Memorial Day presentation by Col. Williams's niece, author Joan Williams Broerman and her husband, Neal.
Dr. Lee Karen Stow
Dr. Lee Karen Stow is an award-winning photojournalist in England. In her documentary project, Poppies (Women and War), Lee tells the stories of women who were touched by wars and conflict from WWI to the present day. During her research, Lee worked with brave women refugees who fled wars in the Congo and Somalia, and she shared Moina's story with them.
Knights of Columbus
Moina would be so proud! During Memorial Day Weekend, Saint Brigid Catholic Church in Johns Creek, Georgia, was a sea of bright red poppies. After each mass, Sir Knight, Jon Satterfield, and members of the Knights of Columbus, Fr. Joseph T. O'Callahan Assembly, distributed 1,400 poppies to parishioners.
